"I enjoyed all the special touches in The Lodge and surrounding neighborhood. It was a feast for my senses. The flowers and scenery are lush. So many quaint locations to relax with a good book. The local coffee shop and diners are also delightful. One of my favorite memories was the beautifully tranquil kayaking experience Lena and I shared (right up until we spotted a snake sleeping on a rock nearby- lol). I loved our Bookation experience at Carlton Landing!" -Erin
"Went on the most wonderful reading retreat at the Lodge. Carlton Landing was a great spot, but the Lodge was absolutely fabulous. So relaxing, so cozy, and totally precious. Will definitely be back!" -Valerie
FAQ:
Q. How does the food work?
A. You can bring all your own food, eat out each meal, or a combo of both. We generally eat together at Mama Tig's for dinner one night & The Meeting House another night. And for those who arrive Thursday night, we do a little potluck charcuterie board meal together!
Q. What happens if I have to cancel last minute?
A. You are welcome to sell your spot to a friend or check with me to see if we have a waiting list, but sadly, the spot is non-refundable.
Q. Can I come alone?
A. Absolutely! I've decided book lovers are the most friendly, kind and welcoming people so don't worry about coming alone! We always arrive as strangers and leave as friends.
Often people come in pairs, but rarely does everyone know each other. However, as time goes by, there are regulars, so you'll recognize faces from previous years! I hope you'll come and keep coming back!
Q. Do I have to share a bed with someone else?
A. We have a triple bunk and a single twin, so be sure to snag those fast if you like to sleep solo. Or you can buy 2 spots & have the full queen or king to yourself!
Q. What other plans are made besides just reading all weekend?
A. That's pretty much it! This is a VERY low-key weekend, although organic gatherings and conversations happen over meals and the fire pit, which are often my favorite moments!
Q. Where is there to read?
A. Wherever you want! I like to read on the beach with my toes in the lake, by the firepit, in The Lodge's cozy couches, at The Overlook and just about anywhere that's comfortable!

The Lodge made it very very easy to do so. Curl up with my book, blanket and played a record on the record player. Did that.
Read while soaking in the huge soaking tub upstairs with Epsom salts that were provided...umm yes please.
Bring a book and lawn chair that is provided to Porchfest. Check. Take a relaxing stroll to The Meeting Place and grab a coffee while reading outside. Done.
